Multiple Sclerosis charity race

Pivotal has participated in the annual Multiple Sclerosis (MS) charity race, held in Madrid, Spain. This important event, organized every year, aims to raise awareness and funds for MS research and support.

Multiple sclerosis is a chronic neurological condition that affects the central nervous system, impacting more than 2.8 million people globally. It can lead to progressive disability, underscoring the importance of early detection, treatment, and continuous support for those affected.

The race coincided with World MS Day, observed every year on May 30th. Established by the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF) in 2009. This global initiative seeks to raise public awareness about the challenges faced by people living with MS, promote social inclusion, and advocate for early diagnosis. Early detection is key, as it allows for timely treatment that can slow disease progression, improve quality of life, and reduce the impact of symptoms.

At Pivotal, we recognize the critical role of fundraising in driving research forward. The funds raised through events support the development of new therapies, the improvement of existing treatments, and ultimately, the search for a cure. Additionally, these resources help finance rehabilitation programs, psychological care, and social services that significantly enhance the daily lives of those living with MS.

The impact of sustained research funding is evident: in the past three decades, the number of disease-modifying therapies available for MS has increased from none to more than 20. These therapies can reduce relapse rates by 30–70% and slow disability progression, representing major advancements in patient care. Continued research has also led to a better understanding of the complex autoimmune processes underlying MS, paving the way for more targeted treatments and personalized approaches.

Here’s what some of our team members had to say about their experience in the charity race:

  • Jesús Cortes: “It has been an enriching experience. The camaraderie and positive atmosphere among colleagues, all teaming up for a good cause, helps strengthen our team spirit. Facing a sporting challenge also fosters personal growth.”
  • Haiyue Wei: “Great energy, great team, and a great cause! I am truly grateful to be part of a company that supports meaningful initiatives. Proud to run in support of multiple sclerosis awareness—a small effort that reminds us how powerful collective action can be. Looking forward to more opportunities to make a difference together.”

We would like to thank all our colleagues who participated, shared their energy, and supported this cause: Ismael, Ignacio, Laura, Jesús, Noelia, Daniel, José Antonio, Haiyue, Pedro, Sandra, Juan Carlos, Nerea, Alejandro, and Sergio.
